Catalina Island

If you are looking for a great day excursion, Catalina Island is the thing to do on your next trip to Casa de Campo. The island is a protected bird sanctuary and only reached by boat. You can depart from Minitas Beach and the trip takes around 25 minutes. (If you are prone to seasickness, this is not for you. You will be out to sea.) But it is all worth it: gorgeous white sand beach, Caribbean breezes and crystal clear waters await you.

Once on the island, you can request umbrellas or just set up camp under one of the many beach grape, almond or coconut trees. The very friendly staff and great bartenders will pamper you.

A nature trail has recently been finished. Walk the trail to explore the natural landscaping and bird sanctuary. You may even spot a raccoon, brought here in the 1940s. The end of the trail takes you to a cliff offering incredible vies.

Captain Kidd’s Ship wreck (Quedagh Merchant) was discovered in 2007 has become a favorite diving spot. Take a diving excursion to the island instead or just directly to the wreck which has been named a Living Museum of the Sea.

Contact our concierge services for reservations. There are several excursions with many departure and return times, please let our concierge know your preference.

NOTE: If you are going on the island day trip, please let our concierge know what you would like to eat the day before, since it has to be brought in from the mainland. Otherwise, your choices will be hamburgers and hot dogs.
